Rev George Hargreaves has been involved in television for almost forty year. He first appeared on the small screen on Sunday, 21 October 1973, when he played the role of a schoolboy in the BBC Play of the Month “The Common” starring Dennis Waterman. Since then he has appeared in numerous programmes ranging from the BBC’s “News Night” to “Sunday Morning Live”; ITV’s “Divine Inspiration” to the award winning Channel 4 series “Make Me A Christian”. He has also written the signature tunes for the BBC magazine programmes “Pebble Mill at One” and “The 6:55 Special”.
He entered politics when he stood for Parliament as a candidate for Sir James Goldsmith’s Referendum Party in 1997, in the east London constituency of Walthamstow. He was also a member of the Referendum Party’s central campaign team, and wrote the party’s campaign song “Let The People Decide”. When the Referendum Party disbanded he briefly joined the Liberal Democrat Party.
From 2002 to 2004, Rev George Hargreaves was a member of the Christian Peoples Alliance, where he became the party’s Campaigns Officer. In April 2004 he launched Operation Christian Vote, which is now known as The Christian Party, and is the only faith based political party to have any elected political representatives in Britain.
Rev George Hargreaves spent his early working life in the music industry, where he gained success as a songwriter and record producer. Among others, he wrote songs for Five Star, Loose Ends, Yaz and wrote and produced the million selling hit single “So Macho” for Sinitta and thereby gave X Factor’s Simon Cowell his first pop idol.

I can say I have a political life from the start of age twelve. My family consist of many successful and famous politicians. I have helped in campaigns, meetings and socials, I am passionate about participating even today.
I am a good listener, planner, organiser, negotiator, encourager, problem solver, advisor-counsellor and probably the first one to say ‘Let’s pray’…
I love and enjoy ardently good politicians, cheerful people, good humour and banter. I seem to be surrounded by many such characters…most probably because I might just be the cheer-leader!
